Travel Bucketlist

Welcome to 2018 everyone. I truly hope your year has started off on the right foot and that if you’ve set some resolutions for yourself, you’re on your way to getting them done or getting a plan in place to do so. Does anyone else have a travel bucketlist? I’ve always loved the idea of traveling and have done a fair bit but I still have the WHOLE world to go. We do hope to do a little traveling this year but I cannot let out any of the details of that yet because, lets just say its TOP SECRET!!!

If some of your resolutions include traveling more and you were looking for some inspiration, you’ve landed in the right place.

(ha ha see what I did there, “landed”, on a travel blog?!?!)

Here you’ll get a glimpse of my Top 6 on my travel bucketlist. Lets get right to it. These aren’t in any particular order.

Europe ~

I really wanted to just list all the countries but if I’m being totally honest, I’d LOVE to just travel the entire continent. Maybe one of these days. The main countries I’d love to visit and spend quite a bit of time in are Germany, Italy, France and Ireland. Not only because these are beautiful countries with such a rich history but because I also have a little bit of each nationality in me. (I’m also a bit Russian too apparently. My husband really hit the jackpot with me didn’t he? 5 of the angriest, hot-headed nationalities all rolled into one. Pray for him y’all) My husband is also a little German, though we don’t know what else. I’d love to just spend a solid 2-3 days in each of those countries and Greece just soaking it all in.

I feel like I should share specifically where I’d want to travel to, so here you go.
  • Germany ~ Berlin, because it’s the capital. Frankfurt because that’s where my Oma was from and where my mother was born. Rothenburg, voted 8 out of the Top 10 places to visit in Germany on TripAdvisor, because my grandfather gave me a painting that was of a scene from there and it looks lovely.
  • Italy ~ Rome to see the coliseum and the Trevi fountain and so many other things. Venice to ride a gondola through the “streets”. Pisa for the leaning tower. Verona because Romeo & Juliet. And another one, Pompeii because it was once buried by the erupting of Mt. Vesuvius and I mean, how cool.
  • France ~ Well you can’t go to France without visiting Paris and the Eifel Tower. And then just because who knows if I’d ever be able to see it again, I’d want to go to St. Tropez and Nice and look at the beautiful beaches and waters.
  • Ireland ~ For sure I would want to visit Belfast where the Titanic was built. Wait, you didn’t know I was OBSESSED with all things Titanic? Just wait, it’ll come out soon. 😉 And then Dublin so my hubby could go to the Guinness Brewery.
  • Greece ~ I’d adore going to Athens to see the Acropolis and the Parthenon. How cool would that be? And then of course picturesque Santorini. Those beautiful blue Aegean waters against the incredible white homes and buildings just calls to me.

Egypt ~

For as long as I can remember I’ve been completely awestruck with Egyptian history. I used to have this really cool book/box thing that had what they said was a real piece of papyrus. It also had cool miniature artifact replicas. I LOVED that thing. I’m sure it was a gift from someone but can’t remember who. No matter who it was though, it was an amazing gift. My mom once got me a necklace with my name written in hieroglyphs, another amazing gift I wish I still had. Since then I’ve had a huge desire to travel to where the river flows up instead of down. I see exhibits about mummy’s (specifically Tut), I watch movies about Egypt, documentaries, etc. You name it, I’m interested. I also love the link between the Egyptians and the Bible. Its so cool to me. To see the pyramids, and the tombs and all the ancient buildings that are still standing would be a dream come true to the little girl still living somewhere inside of me. Bonus:: My oldest son is interested in Egypt as well so this would be a really awesome trip to share with him.

Australia ~

Now who doesn’t want to go visit the “land down undah” (“under” if you’re not trying to have an Australian accent). I want to go to the Sydney Oprah House, and dive (not that I do that sort of thing) in the Great Barrier Reef, see if there really is a P Sherman at 42 Wallaby Way (one of these days I’ll cool it with the Disney references, ok not likely but anyway). My all time favorite singer calls this place home, even though he was born in New Zealand. (another post will tell you who this is) I just think, how many times will I get the opportunity to say, “I’ve seen a kangaroo in the wild”. Maybe I could even cuddle a Koala!!

DisneyWorld ~

I gotta say, whether you have kids or not, DisneyWorld is just one of those places that everyone wants to go to one day. My husband and I have never been, meaning that neither have our boys. I know, it’s a travesty. We had hoped to go a few years ago before my husband lost his Active Duty status in the military but we just couldn’t make it work. Then we looked into it again before the oil downturn, and well, that didn’t happen. In any case, one day this would be a DREAM trip for our family. I don’t really think I need to go into the details of DisneyWorld and why we’d want to go because, well, Disney. DUH!!! My kids are currently 7 and 11 years old. They’ve been mentioning it here and there for a few years and each time I have to say, “one day boys”. Hopefully “one day” comes soon because I don’t want them to be “too old” for all the magic, and wearing matching family Disney shirts. J I want to see their eyes just light up as they see everything for the first time. I want to take as many pictures as possible and catch every single moment in time. Yes I want this for me, but so much more for them.

Hawaii ~

Ahhh Hawaii, can you just hear the luau music playing against the sound of the waves? This is one of the only tropical places I really MUST go before I die. More often than not I can be ok with not going anywhere tropical. While they are usually beautiful places, I don’t really enjoy the weather. But here I think I could suffer through the humidity. I’m not usually a beach fan either so this is why I don’t so much enjoy tropical locales. I can almost guarantee though, that in Hawaii, I’d be at the beach in one way or another every single day. I want to go tour a volcano and bring some flowers to Pearl Harbor. How about eating shaved ice while watching a sunrise and sunset at the beach, yep that too. Parasailing, snorkeling with sea turtles, seeing waterfalls, I could go on and on. So many amazing things to do in this place and I don’t even need a passport. Sign me up!!

::Bonus:: Universal Studios ~

So this one hasn’t really been on my list for a long time. I haven’t really had the desire to go here until my son started reading Harry Potter. Then I realized they have Transformers there and stuff from Jurassic Park and then I was SOLD. (Boymom status here with the robots and dinosaurs) I mean come on, how cool would it be to stand in front of Optimus Prime??? Or go through Diagon Alley and have your wand choose you? SERIOUSLY people. PS They also have a Revenge of the Mummy attraction! You mean I can combine my love of all things Egyptian and a trip to a cool place like Universal? Yes please!!! These and a few other attractions are the reason I really want to go to Universal but the MAIN purpose would be to see my little Potter-Head boy get the experience of a lifetime.

Well that’s it y’all,
